Why should I reduce my plastic usage?
Greenhouse Gases and Clean Air
Plastic production is one of the largest causes of global warming (Yes! It is real. Don't even try to deny it). The average citizen of North America, or Europe consumes about 220 pounds of plastic per year. The production of that plastic leads to up to 660 pounds of carbon emissions released into our atmosphere! (Based on a 3:1 ratio of emissions to plastic produced).
Plastic Pollution in Marine Ecosystems
Plastic can have devastating effects on the health of marine animals, leading to paralysis, sickness, and even death. By not using plastic, you can help save animals, from the smallest plankton and coral, to the largest whales.

So how can I help reduce the amount of micro-plastic in our environment?
Some Easy Methods Include:
- Discontinuing, or limiting the use of plastic products
- Discontinuing, or limiting the use of cosmetics that contain micro beads, polyurethane, and other harmful plastic ingredients. Find a more detailed list of ingredients to avoid here.
- By signing our pledge to search through your cosmetics and properly dispose of any harmful products
- Recycling, or properly disposing of harmful products
- Reducing the amount of plastic you use (e.g. using a metal water bottle, bringing your own shopping bags)
- Reusing as much as possible
- Avoiding petroleum based substances. Petroleum is one of the main ingredients in plastic, and it causes delayed, or even impossible degradation, which means it doesn't break down in nature.
